Steps in placing a crown

The tooth is prepared to accept a crown.

A temporary crown is made to cover and protect the tooth until the crown is ready. While wearing a temporary crown: do not eat sticky foods, avoid eating in that area, avoid excessive flossing, rinse regularly with warm salt water and chloroseptic rinses, brush softly the gum and tooth area, avoid drinking extreme hot or cold foods or drinks. This will aid in the gum tissue healing, the temporary remaining in place, and a pleasant interim before delivery of the crown.  If the temporary should come off contact your dentist (do not be alarm).

The crown is then tried on for fit, shape and color. The bite is checked and adjusted. If all is satisfactory, the crown is bonded to the tooth.
